US MNT New Look
Will the US MNT turn it around? That is the question among soccer fans in this country.
The dust has settled for some after the elimination to next years world cup, and a new journey starts against Portugal on November 14th. The theme to this upcoming roster seems to be YOUTH. 12 players (more than half of the team) are 24 years old or younger. Sprinkled in with some veterans (Yedlin, Brooks, Bedoya) the team looks for a new identity as it heads into 2018.
Some key positions that need to be filled include the goal keeper. Three relatively new goalies will get their shot to protect the net. Bill Hamid, Jesse Gonzales and Ethan Horvath combine for 4 international caps. Another position looking to be filled is the forward spot. I think it is safe to say Clint Dempsey is staring at the end of his career. So who besides Pulisic can give us an opportunity to score? Dom Dywer and CJ Sapong who have separated themselves in the MLS as goal scorers will look to make their mark on the international stage.
Will tonight give us any answers to the questions we had after our last defeat? Probably not, but it might be a good indication of where we need to start heading during this long journey to World Cup 2022.
